| bank of scotland bank charges Anyone had more than one taken off as a "good will gesture" because im pretty certain i know people who have had 3/4/5 taken off but they told me they could only do it once!
im fucking sick of bank charges, i take a huge chunk out of my wages and put them into cred union etc so i really only keep money in the bank to cover my direct debits, but iv somehow managed to not leave enough in!
Or does anyone have any advice on how to get this taken off? its due off on the 6th

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges You can claim bank charges back. There's a letter somewhere on the BBC website that you print out and send to the bank, as long as you have all the bank statements for the various bank charges as proof.

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges The truth of it is, you can only get a charge waivered once every 12 months, unless its fraud or a bank error or something. Clearly yer not leaving enough money in your acount for your DDs, so just make sure you have enough in and yer sorted. |

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges I've had tons of charges reversed by the Bank Of Scotland. A lot of them were the bank's fault, a lot weren't but, I think it just depends how much of a front you put up and if you talk the right talk when you go in.
Any bank charges that are their fault but don't let them away with it, they'll try it on.

Clearly yer not leaving enough money in your acount for your DDs, so just make sure you have enough in and yer sorted. | I should have been paying more attention, it was a DD for Shelter and they took the money out a week later than we'd agreed so although I did have enough on the day I thought it was coming out, my account was empty on the day they actually tried to withdraw...still think £35 is a bit of a steep charge for rejecting a DD though.
oh, also - the guy wasn't much more helpful on the phone, do I need to contact shelter to set it all up again or will the next one come off fine?

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges Normally after the first time a DD is returned its supposed to wait for about 30 days untill the funds are in the account again and then it leaves by itself. But some companies are a bit shit basically and either dont claim it again or ask for it when you still don't have the money. So to be on the safe side i would call them up and ask them to claim it again.
Yeah 35 pound is harsh, that's a night out right there! But if the company has taken it out the wrong date then they should pay your charges, they have control over the direct debit so if they take it out a date that was not agreed then they should refund you that 35 quid. Its part of the DD mandate you agree with them. |

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges Same story with me. I went a mere £1.80 over my overdraft, and put in £200 the very next day (was positive I wasnt over my limit as I calculated it, but for some reason another DD decided to take money from me that day)
I found out that they were going to take a total of £58 from my account for this AYE RIGHT!
Managed to phone them and explain, this is the first time I have ever went over and they said they will only ever reverse it this once, but come on, it was £1.80!!!

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges I've only ever had a bank charge once - well, it was two charges cos I went over my overdraft when 2 direct debits came out, the charges amounted to £70 or something. I didn't ask for them to be reversed, it was about 2 months ago. Could I still ask or is there a time limit? Would they tell me to get to fuck? |

| Re: bank of scotland bank charges Na there's no time limit. Obviously if they have came out allready which i assume they have then its just a refund instead of a waiver. What bank you with? |
