Looking for some advice.

A few months ago I was introduced to a guy by a friend. We seemed to get on ok but then he started behaving like an arsehole so I stopped contact with him. Since then he has continued to try to contact me and I have continued to ignore him.

Last night I met him again and when I wasn't willing to talk to him he became nasty and abusive. Now I've never said a bad word against him or to him until last night. Since then I've been hit with a constant wave of abuse and threats.

I'm now recieving messages and phonecalls about a gumtree ad that now seems to have been deleted.

I'm lost as to what I can do about him, I need to keep that number for various reasons, so I can't just change it. Is there anything I can do about him, any legal road I can go down? I feel sick, harassed and on the point of tears.

I know it might seem a little extreme, but contact your mobile phone company, see if they can block him.

Alternately, contact the police.. might be a little bit overkill, but you never know who the next mad serial killer/rapist might turn out to be.


OR.. send the boys round to kick his fucking head in.....

This could be an ex of mine. I got the police to go and chap his door, have a word in his shell like. I did have text messages threatening all sorts though, so was in a position to show them to the police. Definitely keep any that you receive. I would also contact Gumtree and see if they can tell you where your" ad originated from.

I'm not very good at this as the police didn't really stop him being a cunt, and I had to get someone to threaten him before he really laid off.

This is gonna sound really stupid but it's not meant to be, have you actually told him to leave you alone? Don't ignore him, just say "Please don't contact me, leave me alone.". Once that's done you could look at other options as he is ignoring your request.

Tell him you're going to the police if he doesn't stop and that should hopefully work. If not, actually go to them - they can charge him under the Telecommunications Act if he's been sending you abusive texts i think so make sure you've saved them and any other abusive correspondence he's been sending you. Aye, you have to wonder about a guy who gets his kicks out of terrifying lassies. This happened to me before, incidentally. Went on for a couple of years before getting the boys round was the only way to deal with it.
