| Feet, Pain, Help Right. I been working for a couple of weeks now. Until Thursday it was carrying boxes of glasses and stock and cleaning up and moving furniture for the big kick off at work. Was wearing Samba the whole time. No problems.
I did wear my shoes out drinking one night to break them in again as they aint been worn in months. No problem.
First night at work. Standing behind a bar, constantly walking around, for eight hours and my feet were killing me. I figured it was expected. Wearing shoes and not having a chance to take my weight off my feet. A few days of sore feet and I'll get past it.
Last night was agony. I was almost in tears at the pain towards the end. I figured it can't just be not being used to standing around in shoes. Maybe wear trainers (soft bottom) and switching to shoes (hard bottom) was fucking up my feet. For more cushion I'd wear extra socks tomorrow.
Tonight, three pairs of socks (all thin pairs tho') and it's the worst yet. The pain is mostly on the bottom of my foot at the back but tonight I noticed it kills at the sides of my feet as well. Seeing this was the worst night yet I've deduced (hopefully. I am on my third hypothesis) my feet get hot, sweaty and swell up and my shoes have less give than Samba (my sweet, sweet Samba). Crushing them a good bit. Ended up having to work the last two hours of my shift with no shoes on at all.
So I need
A: tips on how to stretch out my shoes if possible and
B: any other ideas what the fuck is wrong with my feet

| Re: Feet, Pain, Help In terms of stretching your shoes:
Buy a leather stretching spray which is about three quid from clarks, and you'll also need a shoe tree type thing (again about three quid from clarks.) You'll need a couple of days to do it properly, and preferably in a warm room. If you want to do it cheaply, hold them in the steam from a kettle for three or four boils and massage the leather in between, although it's a pretty temporary solution as they'll snap back if they're not worn.
To be honest, both of these are pretty temporary as only actually wearing the shoes will stretch them to a comfortable size.
Probably better off getting new shoes, unless it is actually something wrong with your feet, in which case, find a podiatrist in Jersey |

| Re: Feet, Pain, Help No NHS in Jersey. Would cost a bomb to have some guy say "aye Mick. You've got wide feet"
"I know I got wide feet ya cunt. That's why I wear Samba!"
"That'll be £30 please. Jersey notes"
I am gonna buy a newspaper tomorrow and stuff my shoes full of it so that'll stretch it.
Hopefully

Hopefully | Well, the steaming the leather will work, if only temporarily. If you wear them straight after they may stay like that. Worth a shot.
I worked in Clarks for six years, I have many ways of convincing people shoes fit them |

| Re: Feet, Pain, Help An easy way to stretch your shoes to give you a bit more room is to wet the inside of the shoes at night and push in a large damp potato, by the way I'm not taking the piss here it does work. Your feet are sore because you aren't used to an honest days work

| Re: Feet, Pain, Help You could have fallen arches or maybe Plantar Fascitis (google it). If its in the heel, it sounds like it could be that, but usually you find that its only really bad when you haven't been moving and its your first few steps that are sore.
What I would do is by some insoles with arch support, will probably feel uncomfortable at first, but I think they are ok and do the trick.
If its really that bad with the shoes, could you not buy plain black trainers and get away with that? If not, buy some shoes that have a softer sole that the ones you bought - they are solid!
Hope you feel better - their is nothing worse than having sore feet when you're at work - it's all you think about! |

| Re: Feet, Pain, Help I massage moisturiser into shoes to soften up the leather-it is essentially skin. Takes a while but usually makes a difference without ruining your shoes.
If they've hurt your feet you should wait a week or so before wearing them again after the leather's stretched, otherwise your feet aren't going to feel better in them. Can you borrow a pair or something?
