Children's TV presenter Mark Speight, whose actress girlfriend died after a drugs binge, has gone missing.

Police have described the 42-year-old as vulnerable and are appealing for help to find him.

His fiancée Natasha Collins was found dead in the bath of their flat in January.

Mr Speight - who fronted kids' shows SMart and SMarteenies - was reported missing when he failed to turn up to meet a friend in Covent Garden, Central London.

Scotland Yard issued a statement which said: "Police are appealing for information to trace a vulnerable missing person who was last seen in the Wood Green area of London.

"Mark Speight, of Norfolk Avenue, Enfield was last seen at 9.30am yesterday morning when he was dropped off at Wood Green station. He was due to meet a friend at 3.30pm in Covent Garden but did not arrive.

"Mark is approx 6ft tall, of slim build, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown suit jacket, dark jeans and a brown flat cap."

"Police and Mark's friends and family are concerned for his welfare."

An inquest into the death of Miss Collins was held last week and recorded a misadventure verdict after hearing how she took, cocaine, alcohol and a sleeping tablet on the night of her death.

The 31-year-old was found with hot water burns covering about 60 per cent of her body in the bath of the couple's home in St John's Wood, north-west London, on January 3.

Westminster Coroner Dr Paul Knapman recorded a verdict of death by misadventure after noting that she had a "very significant" amount of cocaine in her body at the time of death.

Mr Speight was arrested after the body was found but released without charge a short while later.

Mr Speight, originally from Wolverhampton, quit his SMart show after his "tragic loss" left him unable to continue.

He shot to fame as the rubber-faced presenter of Children's ITV Saturday morning show Scratchy & Co. Ms Collins starred alongside him on BBC children's show See It Saw It.
