| Clapping at a funeral/clapping a coffin Just watching the pictures of Tommy Burns' funeral and the hearse driving past Celtic Park, it reminded me of a fairly new thing that seems to happen at a lot of high-profile funerals - people clapping a hearse/coffin.
Does anyone else think this is inappropriate? It all started with Diana's funeral but i just find it inappropriate and almost a bit disrespectful. |

| Re: Clapping at a funeral/clapping a coffin When it's a sports person/musician etc I think it's perfectly fine because you would have applauded them at times when they were alive. I think it's a much greater sign of respect than being silent.

| Re: Clapping at a funeral/clapping a coffin Depends on how you view the funeral really, they mean different things to different people. Some want to celebrate the deceased's life, others want to mourn the death. I'm fine with either really, although as my funeral will include a forced sing a long of Mousse T's I'm Horny everyone will be crying anyway

| Re: Clapping at a funeral/clapping a coffin In that case, I'd like people to big it up when I kicked the bucket. I reckon i'd appreciate it and find it flattering.

| Re: Clapping at a funeral/clapping a coffin I've been to a couple there have been gigs at, no clapping would just seem weird.
But aye, celebration of life and all that. Wolf whistles are a bit much though |

Aye, add to that throwing flowers at a hearse, which is bizarre. |
