| Re: Renting and Pets we've got 2 cats and our landlords are finr with them, but they they do have 60 pigs....
our last place wasnt overly happy but we had told the letting agent who neglected to tell the landlord so it wasnt our fault.
place before that we were told to get rid of the cats or move out as we had my sisters two aswell which 'apparently' ganged up on the landlords cats. he lived next door to us so we couldnt pretend we didnt have them....so we moved out and the house sat empty for months, ha hA!

Most landlords are perfectly ok with cats to be fair, so long as you don't have a house full of them and they don't piss all over the carpets. My last landlord was fine with them too. | Was this the house you were telling me about? Congrats on getting it!!
I'll be renting my flat out in the next few months and really dont mind tenants with cats at all but would be really pissed off if I found out that there had been a dog living there. Mainly due to smells and stuff, and the fact I just plain dont like dogs. |

| Re: Renting and Pets My last landlord had a 'no pets' clause thingy, but he was fine when i explained that i already had a cat who was fully litter trained and didn't go outside.
I think the thing they're most concerned about is flea infestation. scratched walls etc aren't that expensive to fix. So if it's a house cat you'll probably be okay just to come clean. |

| Re: Renting and Pets Hmm. I saw a flat this morning which is brand new and really nice.
Problem is, it's not a private let so no direct contact with the landlord.
Has anyone let from Clyde Letting before?
I suspect that if I tell them it'll be a straight "fuck off", but if I don't it says on the website that they come and check the property every two months which would mean finding a temporary home for Charlie on a regular basis. |

| Re: Renting and Pets I've used 3 letting agents and pets has been okay with all of them (when I've asked them directly, although it's always said no in the contract) and none of them have ever visited the property.
But I guess the possibility of them ever wanting to visit is always there.. but you do get sufficient notice to clean up and hide the evidence. |

| Re: Renting and Pets From their website:
"We will read meters advise Service Providers of the Tenants occupation and vacation dates and arrange for payment of applicable accounts. We will agree with you on our scope of responsibility in arranging repairs. We can use our Approved Contractors or those nominated by you. We will check your property on a two monthly basis, to ensure that it is being looked after in accordance with the Tenancy Agreement. We will provide written reports to you as required, and we will return to assess dilapidations at the date of termination, in line with the original singed inventory. Outwith general wear & tear, your tenant is responsible for relevant dilapidations where applicable."
I'm scared of them... |

| Re: Renting and Pets I'll need to check this out. I doubt that they would have a problem with my lizard, seeing he's in a tank, but they may have a problem with the 2 Guinea Pigs I plan to get.

Clyde Letting are absolute nazis. We got a flat from them and they refused to give us any of our deposit back due to stupid reasons like.."The inside of the washing machine had dust in it" and.."You overused the cutlery". (Btw, we had our OWN cutlery, we never used it)
It was a nightmare when we said we wanted to move out after 6 months too, as they had people round to look at the flat every day, without hardly ever giving us proper notice. And if we said we were busy, it was a case of "too bad".
They also have a no pets clause in ALL of their leases.

| Re: Renting and Pets There's deffo been a cat in our flat before we moved in despite our landlord being against it. he told us though and just kind of shrugged his shoulders. Amy got a snake without asking him(you'd think PAH snake, its kept in a viv but no Steve escaped for months). I'd just do it, if you know he/she was coming round to your flat i'd get the cat back to my mums or round to one of my friends for an afternoon. |

| Re: Renting and Pets I'd say your best bet is to try and get a private landlord?
That way you'll be dealing directly with the person who owns the property, and you can just ask them outright/offer to pay for any damage.
