| Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap For my sins, I'll be finding myself in Newcastle for the day on Saturday.
I don't know how long the thing I'm actually going down for is likely to take, so I have to book my train tickets back to glasgow for as late as possible (perhaps even the next day).
However, I hate the thought of having fuck all to do all day should my appointment only last a couple of hours.
So any suggestions on good places to eat, things to do, pubs, etc? I'm going with my boyfriend so I guess crappy romantic stuff could be a giggle as well. |

| Re: Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap My favourite pub in Newcastle is The Forth, on Pink Lane (the wee street straight opposite the main train station entrance).
If you want something utterly free to do, visit Baltic, just over the river. No idea what the current exhibitions are, but it’s a gorgeous building in its own right. If your art taste is more towards the lo-fi, you could try the Waygood Gallery instead.

| Re: Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap The Forbidden Planet in Newcastle is good for killing time as it is still a functioning book shop and unlike the Glasgow one doesn’t smell of BO and Rustlers hamburgers. There’s a wee shopping arcade up that way that’s pretty good as well

| Re: Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap the best thing to do in Newcastle is just appreciate the Geordie accent, it doesn't cost a penny!
when ur feeling brave enough start going into shops and asking for things in a Geordie accent.
I managed to ask for a can of lilt from a chippie one time, naebdy batted an eye lid.

| Re: Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap I've been to Byker. Newcastle aint really that cheap. More expensive than Glasgow. I found Thursday's in Newcastle to be yer best bet for a cheap night out but the prices rise a lot for the weekend.

| Re: Things to do in Newcastle on the cheap So we're essentially saying newcastle is a bit shit and expensive?
