| Re: Entertaining Americans in Glasgow **typed before I read they were familiar with non-Glasgow Scotland**
If you go up the West End then I found americans in Glasgow often liked the Mackintosh House at Glasgow Uni's Hunterian, they appreciated the Scottishness of his work more than I ever dd.
In fact, with the 12 year old boy the Transport Museum would be a good bet as well so hopefully they're in a hotel near Kelvingrove and they'll never have to leave the area!
If they are thinking of moving then make sure you take them round the city-centre shops even just to show how close everything is (theatres, shopping, bars, restaurants, cinemas). There's still plenty of touristy bits if they want them there (GoMA, Lighthouse, City Chambers tour, even Sharmanka & The Tenement House are handy). |

| Re: Entertaining Americans in Glasgow Make sure they know where all the family-type things are. Cinemas (IMax too!), shopping centres, museums (I loved the Hunterian when I was younger but I haven't seen it at all since it was done up, haven't been to the People's Palace for a while either but both are chances to show off nice old buildings as much as anything else), cafes/restaurants, Botanics, Glasgow Green and Kelvingrove. The West End and City Centre are good places to show off right off the bat. How would you entertain yourselves (if you were being responsible-ish) if you were at the age of the children? Make them aware of all the options open to them as well, as they won't be tagging about with their parents all the time if they were to move over, especially the 18-year-old. They'll want to know about the place as much as the adults.

| Re: Entertaining Americans in Glasgow Show them them the Clydeside, let them get an authentic taste of Glasgow by having them get hassled by junkies and bams (or junkie bams). Then take them for dinner at one of Glasgow's ten million kebab shops before showing them late night Sauchiehall Street, they certainly won't ever think about moving over here again.

Take them all around Merchant City - the cafes, architecture and ambience of the area is most likely very different to anything they come across at home. There are also plenty of arty places there (if I am not mistaken?) Plenty of little shops for the girls to go in too.
