Is it rough?
Is it Mostly students?
I'm out and about in the west end a fair bit, mostly at night though, so I don't really know much about the resedential side. |

| Re: Charing Cross I love living at Charing Cross. It's a faily even mix of large Asian families and students. I've never had any trouble here but there is a fairly prolific gang presence and there have been a number of attacks on Woodlands road and the like fairly recently. As I said, though, I've lived here for 3 years and have never had a problem myself - the gangs tend to fight each other rather than attack anyone else.
I love the area - loads of shops, ease of transport and so easy to get to the west end and centre of Glasgow. |

| Re: Charing Cross It's mostly a good area but we do have quite a few car break ins. They're planning on building a homeless shelter for 16-24 year olds soon and we've been warned by the police to expect an increase in crime.
That said, my mate live on Kent road and i don't think they've ever had any trouble. I think kids pressing the buzzer and running away is as bad as they've had it!

I love the area - loads of shops, ease of transport and so easy to get to the west end and centre of Glasgow. | There was a couple of drive by shootings on Woodlands Road a few years back as well.
And a series of sexual assaults last year and earlier this year.
Always seems nice enough when I'm round that way. Plenty of good pubs as well. |

When you fall out of a nightclub on payday you are in walking distance home so you don't have to worry about Taxi's.
There also a council estate just over the road near the SECC but you never get bother from any of them. |

| Don't believe the hype, Clydebank's fucking great. The surrounding areas (Yoker, Drumchapel, Dalmuir) not so much, but Clydebank itself is well gid.
Oh, and watch out for maniacs wielding green icing.

| Re: Charing Cross It was the gangs involved in the drive-bys. One was at my old work so I heard quite alot about it (plus I was there at the time - got the fright of my life!). One of the gangs also threw bricks into my upstairs neighbour's window (as their son is in the rival gang) as I was leaving the flat - I had to give a statement to the police for that one. But I've never had anything directed at myself.
The rapes were all around the same time, and I think they were the same person, yeh? I know at least one of them happened at the other end of Woodlands Road (outside the Stand), late at night in an alleyway. Be sensible and don't walk down alleyways alone at night and you'll be fine. |
