I think you can get the filth* to do something if it's been going on for an hour. They respond to house alarms because it's a nuisance(Rather than because there's a stipy-shirted man with a swag bag) so it'd probably be the same for car alarms.

Are you in the Finnieston/Charing Cross area? I put my MP3 player on to distract from a bloody alarm earlier but upon pushing pause it seems to have stopped...
A couple of months ago during those massive gales, that optician's shop down the street (EYE 2 EYE) had its alarm set off and it went on for fifty fucking hours straight with a police station one block away from it before the store owners finally came and turned it off. :/
