Not really. It's the local authority's responsibility to provide these services, and if the terms and conditions they offer are such that the staff withhold their labour, then they've failed in their duty.

I'm not talking about who's to blame .. I'm saying that by putting their own agenda before that of the children, the strikers are being selfish.

The strikers are standing up for their rights. Sure you can call that selfish if you want but thats kinda puts your implicitly on the side of the "man" man.

Re: Local Authority & ancillary school staff industrial action - Wednesday 20th August

In disputes like this, everyone promotes their own agenda. Workers want a decent wage, parents want their kids to have a hassle-free education, local authorities want to spend as little money as possible so there's more left over for junkets. Each side will label the others selfish for not giving them priority.

And the local authorities are the cunts here.

all the east dunbartonshire schools were off. Douglas Academy was off, my wee sister was well impressed. Doubt my mum was however.

Ok - any group of adults can be intimidating for a 4 year old - especially if they are waving big bloody signs about. And as I said - I can understand why folk would support them but to be fair - they have jobs and a pensions and are getting some form of wage rise. As of 26th of September I won't have any of that (due to being made redundant) so I do find it hard to sympathise.
