I know some crackin' taxi drivers. One of the guys I went to college who works as a taxi driver at night who'd give me a lift and that when I was in town.

I'm only weary of taxi drivers when i'm in another country or something and they try and rip me off. For example, when we were in Prague, there was 7 of us so we needed to get 2 taxi's up to the arena and like we were in the first one and went miles ahead of the other taxi and the cunt stopped at the side of the road to "let the other taxi catch up" with us, and left the meter running. EH NAW MATE. JUST DRIVE.

You should never go into a Prague taxi with a meter running or you'll get heavy overcharged. Always agree a price first

Aye thats what we'd been trying to do but the guy hardly spoke a word of English and we had to get the guy in the taxi to tell him where we were going and that. Only taxi driver we had a problem with. Good thing he couldn't tell us to stop drinking beer in his taxi but!

Coming back we just paid a different taxi guy something like 300kc which is like £10 between 4 of us so not bad.

Taxi drivers insurance claims are a total nightmare. The number of times Taxi Driver A makes crazy claims about Driver B causing a liability dispute to months later suddenly find Taxi driver C who "doesn't know any of the parties concerned" but totally backs up taxi driver A is amazing. Don't even get me started on their loss of earnings claims which can never be backed up by tax returns. Then there is the additional and hugely expensive credit hire claim for months due to their £700 Escort being written off which can run to thousands of pounds, and I have seen claimed in excess of £10,000. Arghhhhhhhh

No, not all taxi drivers are bad drivers or inflate claims (to put it politely) but it is rare that a claim from a taxi driver is submitted with proof of the claim and that is not true of most claims, contrary to popular belief.

Work wise, I hate taxi drivers.

Otherwise, they annoy me as much as any other group of professional drivers.

I live just off Great Western Road. I drive every day and am often in the city centre at night. I encounter lots of taxis on a daily basis.

You live in a provincial town. It's a reasonable assumption to make that you don't encounter as many taxis as I do on a daily basis, thus have less experience of dealing with them.

Even if he did live in Bearsden, it's on the edge of Glasgow - do you no think he might drive in to it once in a while? Even if he doesn't experience it everyday he's probably experienced it enough.
