Cos i dont think the majority of charitys actually give full money... after administration costs and stuff | Very poorly run ones. Modern charities, if they want to be run well and be as effective as possible, need to be run by professional staff. |

Omm | It's a charity fighting for fundamental basic human rights in a country that should know better, but I wouldn't expect someone with your mental capacity to understand that. |

Anyways, don't actually expect Altnation to support this one, it's just a charity whose work I admire and respect. |

| Re: Altnation - Charity - Banners Yeah someone of my mental capacity would rather see money go towards sick and homeless children, kids that have been orphaned by wars and the starving children of Africa than helping out convicted murders.
Fucking clown.

| Re: Altnation - Charity - Banners The problem with Oxfam, Cancer Research etc, is that they already get so much funding- Not saying they can ever get enough, but they get so much and it goes into the pockets of directors, I've always thought it better to go for a small charity or a Hospice etc.

The ones pulling in the most money are the most organised and efficient so although more pennies are actually spent on admin etc, it's a far smaller percentage of the monies raised than smaller efforts.
anyway, BUMPED - didn't see the point in a new thread to ask the same question. Any more charity recommendations please? UK based(so i don't get robbed in bank charges for transfers etc) but for international causes....i was ideally hoping to set something up with the global fund for women but it's seeming impossible.

| Re: Altnation - Charity - Banners Smaller efforts require much less in the way of admin though. I don't think there is a definitive generalisation you can make between which is more efficient, too many different factors involved.
Some charities I just outright don't trust, but that's because they employ unethical sales techniques to acquire donations, which in the long run just destroys the spirit of charity that it should be engendering. And if an organisation is short-sighted and unethical in one respect, I find it very hard to trust them in others. |
