Bank of scotland customers: changes to overdraft policies

May be of use to any bank of scotland customers on here that come december they are changing thier overdraft policy to customers being charged £1 for each day they are in thier overdraft.

admitadly i didnt ask too many questions at the time and it may just be current account holders but it may be worth looking into.

Re: Bank of scotland customers: changes to overdraft policies

Completely off topic, but seen as we're on the topics of banks...
If you've registered with Click and Buy, you're card transactions via internet/phone/mobile top up may not go through.

Reason being as I found out this morning is because there has been alot of fraud on click and buy, so banks are freezing any action via your card to stop fraud until you confirm you registered with Click and Buy, and some payments you've made by your card were actually you.

Back on topic, overdrafts are mean and i'm glad i dont have one =]

I wish Lloyds Tsb was like that.

Minimum of £5 day unless you're £10 (maybe£15) over the limit, then it's £15 a day.

Fucking disgrace.

Re: Bank of scotland customers: changes to overdraft policies

As far as I know this is only with their Reward Account? I have a student account and a Reward account and it is the only one that gets charged the £1 a day. They have an Ultimate Reward account as well, but instead of the £1 overdraft a day you have to pay them £12.50 a month for having the account in the first place and some "extras" along with it. Either way, it's a pure joke.

Mine is just a standard current account as far as i'm aware - is the standard a 'reward' account? I've never had any rewards, only bloody grief.

I don't think it's if you go over your agreed limit - it's if you are overdrawn at all.

Yup if if you are into your overdraft facility at all, even if its agreed with the bank. My wee mammy has a hefty overdraft of £50 agreed with her bank, as she is on benefits, and they told her £1 a day if she used it at ALL. Fuck that

Which means if you are one of those people (like me) who lived in your overdraft by varying degrees each month/wage, wave cheerio to £30 a month.

Aye. If I can find one that'll do me a decent overdraft without the charge or at least a capped charge I'll be moving from BoS. Bastards.

Its 15 pounds for going overdrawn to begin with then you get a daily fee depending how much you are overdrawn. If you are less that 25 pounds overdrawn its 6 pounds perd day up to a max a ten days. Over 25 pounds is 15 pounds a day and over 100 pounds overdrawn is 20 pounds a day.

LTSB charge you intrest for using the overdrawn so there aint no dealy fees with us. But if you go over your limit then thats when it hurts. But if you get charged for being 25 pounds or less overdrawn with the bank we can normally help you.

Do you mean over your overdraft?

I never go over my agreed limit, but I get the impression from this that it will mean you are charged a daily fee for being overdrawn at all (i.e. within the agreed overdraft) on top of the interest they already charge.

aye thats what BOS are doing i've heard. Thats insane, there should be no charge bar intrest for using your overdraft. Those fees i posted are for LTSB for going over your limit.

Re: Bank of scotland customers: changes to overdraft policies

It takes 20 mins if you apply over the phone or you can do it online. I've always had a LTSB account and i can see why people get annoyed with the charges beacuse they can mount up but i aint had a problem with them, even though i work for them if they were shite i would tell ye.
