Re: Owner of Mono, Stereo, Flying Duck and the 78 in liquidation (again)

I'll be a bit gutted if the Flying Duck closes, it's a nice wee club.

Flying Duck is a shithole and is really badly set up. But, it does serve a purpose. It's monorail I'm worried about.

The Flying Duck's great as a back-up venue if you're putting on gigs when the usual suspects aren't available, Glasgow needs it more than Capitol, Box etc.

I agree with Dec, just because he's associated with venues that have helped out some local bands doesn't mean he should be let away with using obviously dodgy business practices. I also don't go along with the "other people will be just as bad, why pick on him?" train of thought. If the basis of The Mogwai Defence is that he's an important figure in the local music scene then that is also the reason this story was highlighted rather than that of a similarly accused businessman who has no attachment to the growth of a local scene.
