Mininova goes legal, by ditching the illegal stuff

Today is an important day in the history of Mininova. From now on, we are limiting Mininova.org to our Content Distribution service. By doing so, we comply with the ruling of the Court of Utrecht of last August.

We launched our Content Distribution service in 2007. This service allows producers and artists to easily publish and distribute their content for free through Mininova. The launch of Content Distribution has proven to be a success. Countless content owners have used Content Distribution to distribute their content (e.g. albums and documentaries) for free to millions of users. For example, the Dutch band Silence is Sexy released their complete album on Mininova and received the Interactive Award 2009 for doing so. The Dutch television broadcaster VPRO decided to start using Content Distribution in 2009 in order to distribute documentaries.

Shame that, I used to quite enjoy a daily browse through their front page to see what had been on US tv the night before.

haven't used mininova much recently. i was a bit gutted when demonoid went on extended leave a while back.

private trackers have seemed to me to be much more reliable and WAY, WAY faster anyway - i get 42 minutes tv shows in under ten minutes, sites like mininova were never anywhere near as good as that.

i use piratebay/isohunt/btjunkie/btmon/sumotorrent in that order. Gutted that mininovas gone tho, that used to be in that list too. *lighter*

private sites are no better for that theyre just a bit harder for n00bs to get onto, so less fannies/fakes, that and the amount of times i got a massive ratio on a private site only for it to be shut down (filelist being the latest) they can FUCK off, im just using the same as JZY now, never had an issue with viruses or quality.
