| ATTN: Guy who wrote the Bad Religion review. First off, i'd just like to say that usually i'd be the last person to complain about a review, because a) usually my level of apathy restricts any effort to complain on the internet, or b) because I know how futile it is in the first place. However, in the case where its my mates who are getting a bum deal, I feel inclined to gee it a bit ay an argy-bargy.
The one main thing that did my tits in was the spiel about selling tickets. The main error in the review is where it says "the local promoter here saw fit to use the first band to shift no less than two hundred tickets". Frakture sold 89 tickets, which were the only ones they had to pay for; even then only a high percentage of them were to people who actually knew or cared about the band.
So no, they didn't get the gig because the promoter was looking for a quick buck, they got the gig because they've been working hard over the last 3-4 years playing shitty venues and going into europe trying to get somewhere, and the promoter witnessed them put in a solid performance supporting 4ft Fingers. It kinda hurts when people make snidey remarks with absolutely no basis.
I don't have a lot to say about the review of the gig itself, because opinions are opinions (although i'd have something to say about sound quality of BR's set if I was so inclined). I just thought i'd clear this matter up.

| Re: ATTN: Guy who wrote the Bad Religion review. the promoter originally asked another glasgow band to fill the support slot on the condition that they could sell 200 tickets - it's quite reasonable for the reviewer to presume that frakture would have been subject to the same conditions. on a personal basis, i'd assume that to be true; there are many better and more suitable glasgow bands out there who i'd select to support bad religion before a mall-punk band like frakture, but who certainly wouldn't get involved in any pay-to-play nonsense. that's merely opinion on my part, of course.

I just thought i'd clear this matter up. | Snidey remarks with absolutely no basis? The basis is, as I said in the review, I know for a fact that is the deal another band were offered to take the slot (which they refused, obviously) so it's hardly an unreasonable assumption that Frakture were offered the same deal.
Also, the fact that the promoter is using such tactics isn't a reflection on the band, it's a reflection on the promoter. I also don't doubt that they got offered it because the promoter felt that they're a decent band, but it's the fact that they're a decent band who could actually make a fist of selling the tickets (as I also said in the review) that matters. But you cannot possibly argue that it's a meritocratic system; it's pay to play, and it sucks. That's not Frakture's fault though and I don't think anything I said implied it is.
And had the first band offered the slot (friends of mine) accepted it, I would've commented on the ticket thing regardless.
And yeah, the sound was a bit dodgy, for the whole gig. Which I also said in the review.

At the end of the day i'm still just happy to have seen BR for free

| Re: ATTN: Guy who wrote the Bad Religion review. Don't suppose anyone went to see them in Manchester? Sound quality was alot better and the set list was an improvement. Both great gigs though, tempted to go down to Leeds to see them again *ponders*
