Just trying to explain a bit of the desicion making process that goes into this event.
I've been involved in it for the past 8 years, getting further up the food chain every time, so I know how difficult it is to keep everyone happy.

When we hit the peak speed of 74mps the roofing panels of the stage gave way, as they are desinged to, to relive the structural strains on the actual steelwork.
After an inspection, both myself, my H+S team and the council H+S team agreed there was no way to continue the show without the possibility that someone would get hurt.
The rain wasnt actually THAT much of a problem in itself.
Case Closed.

| Re: Edinburgh Hogmanay '05 Texas suck weenie, but I don't care. There'll be other stages, street performers, fairground rides, fireworks and hunners o people, and I'm fucking going. and so are Morrigan and Coire. We can just dodge round the main stage when Texas are on.
We didn't have tickets last year, but we took Coire down to the bottom of Cockburn St. to see the fireworks. We all fucking loved it. |
