This year's headliners are fuckin pish. I'd love to see Kiss and I used to like old Offspring stuff but I don't think they're anything LIKE headliner material. And the Lost Prophets are just utter bollocks!!!
Motorhead and Judas Priest are minted though.
Maybe a holiday in Spain for us lot instead of the festivals?

| Re: Download Festival 2008 Any of the folk blethering about how pish the line-up should get their asses out to Europe to one of their far superior festivals, and the whole thing will probably work out at about the same price if not cheaper.
This line-up's pretty poor so far and I'm not entirely sold on Lostprophets or The Offspring as headlining bands, but then again, who thought Feeder or Tool were in years past? And it could've been worse, I had a strong suspicion they might try and pull Bullet For My Valentien off as one of the headliners.
I'd never go to this festival again anyway; it's a shite set-up and shite atmosphere. Planes going overhead every 20 minutes or so? No thank you.

Either that or like i says, a wee break from the festivals and just get a whole loada mates that normally go to the festivals and find a sunny place for a weeks holiday

A week in France with a bit of Hellfest somewhere in the middle, for example. Euro festivals tickets are always dirt cheap anyway, compared to RIP-OFF BRITAIN (tm The Sun).

Aye man. A couple of us had been thinking about this before.
Could actually be pretty smart travelling to a few places over a few weeks and incorporating the festivals. Like starting in France or Holland and ending up where ever. And aye, like you says, you stand to pay a lot less in European festivals.
Any of you's maybe be up for something like that?

Al | You 110% spoiled me with Download. The year you gave me and Helen VIP tickets meant that I'd never want to go back to having a normal weekend pass. That weekend was amazing and we couldn't top that at Download. |

| Re: Download Festival 2008 It really opened my eyes when I hit a few European festivals last year... The lineups kick the SHIT out of Download, everything is cheaper, the crowds are less fucking annoying and it's JUST COOL to be rocking out in a whole other country. Fans of heavy music in Britain are embarrassing, on the whole, I do not enjoy the company of the people who go to Download one bit. Everywhere else in the world seems to have metal and hardcore fans who can be both knowledgeable and diverse in their music tastes, plus not just act like drunken oafs the whole fucking weekend.
Not really been looking into this year's festival lineups yet, but I just read that Germany's With Full Force Festival has Cavalera Conspiracy, Stuck Mojo, Born From Pain, Agnostic Front and Madball as the main bands luring me in, with a healthy side-portion of Moonspell, MayheM, Slapshot, The dESTINY Program, Dark Funeral, Death Before Dishonour and a few others to satisfy my (mostly black metal and "undercard hardcore") curiosities the rest of the time I'm there. That's not too bad at all.
I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for word on the Pressure Fest bands. I've never seen a bad line-up for that damn Festival and last year's was all-in-all probably the greatest live music experience of my life.
