I agree with you to some extent.......
Doesn't matter whether he's playing somewhere teeny like Tuts, or a big venue like the Barrowlands - he's always been one to interact with the crowd.
Personally i love hearing his stories - how his songs were written, how he constructed them, how he ended up doing whatever cover for whatever radio station etc... But due to the larger setting of the Barrowlands, maintaining that level of crowd-interaction just doesn't work - the setting isn't inimate enough.
You could hear people talking over just about every song he played, never mind when he was talking about his songs. That was really quite frustrating.
That was the third time i've seen him now (Tuts, ABC, Barras) and I don't think i'll go see him again until he's back in the smaller venues again.
