| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March I dont get it either, they cant possibly expect regulars to pay to get into their local on their usual Saturday night out. Something to do with an agreement between the band and management I am to believe. |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March I know that the bar doesnt pay for bands, neither do they charge to pay like quite a few venues in Glasgow, but sometimes a bigger band, or covers band needs to get paid, so sometimes its better to charge a couple quid for entry, dont worry this wont be a regular occurance. Theyr a pretty class band, and £3 isnt a break in the bank for all you cheap arses now is it :P |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March I've always wondered why, on the smaller scale like in pubs and clubs, cover bands get paid better than bands who actually put some time and effort into creating something new and original. Guess it's just coz nobody really wants to hear anything new and original when they're getting wrecked. |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March I honestly dont understand that either. It does seem a bit lazy. Not that im dissin any cover bands, some of them are amazing! But I know a good few bands that have played in the Crow have been awesome, but they either scrape for pennies to play or chose not to earn from it, just for the love of the music and all that jazz! Nutters :P |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March Cover's bands play for 3 hours, bring their own equipment and usually pull more people than any one local bands.
As we have to go a little over budget to get QUALITY covers bands we have to charge a small amount to cover our costs.
This, however, was over my head and not something I endorse, but we're gonna have to give it a bash!
As mishelle said, £3 isn't much and you'd pay well over 4 times that to see bands play the Ferry, etc. |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March Just what i was about to say in defence of cover bands, thank you George
We play for 3 odd hours, spend a fortune on our own equipment, PA system and transport, rehearse more frequently than many bands (our catalogue is 70 odd songs at present).... Bands playing as entertainment NEED to get paid otherwise they wouldn't do it. Even if they're getting £150 that's only covering costs for most good cover bands, and most pubs would agree that they're a fantastic crowd draw as opposed to a three band bill of local groups.
They should be looked at as different kinds of acts though, it's not really comparable.
Tribute acts piss me off though, they tend to get paid a shitload more simply because they write "tribute" on their ad material. But there you go. |

| Re: Gallus Cooper at CrowBar Clydebank 29March Gallus Cooper has Peter Maclean (ex venue DJ) as the singer, aye? I might actually go to this, as I've never seen his band. *makes mental note to text his wife* £3 won't break the bank at all. I'll just cut back on mars bars all week at work |
