If those bands you just listed are playing then I am well going.
If those bands you just listed are playing then I am well going.
I'd like to see The National and Okkervil River added, also more Scottish acts like Malkie Middleton or Belle & Seb. Bright Eyes would be a winner as well, although seems more likely that Oberst will play solo...dunno what that would be like.
I'm going, I've never been to a festival before. Might die.
Looks like that weekend is now free in my diary.....
I don't love you anymore. Goodbye - Alice Ayers

New Acts + Magical On Site Activity
We're very excited to announce the addition of Gomez, The Young Knives, Black Lips, Joan as Police Woman, Dave Clarke (performing a rare electro set), Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Passenger to the festival line up, promising to add their very own twist to the proceedings.
The fantastic Gomez were last seen recording a new single last last year entitled Moon And Sun and we’re delighted to have them play the Guitars & Other Machines Stage. Meanwhile up and coming festival favourites’ The Young Knives will add flavours of indie punk rock to the festival’s musical melting pot, shaking up the waters of Loch Fyne in the process. Joining them will be Brooklyn three piece Joan as Police Woman with front woman Joan Wasser’s mystical, soulful sound and poetic libretto set to provide festival goers with a chance to get lost in a breathtaking set and amidst heather clad hills.
The addition of Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks and Black Lips will be a delight for music fans with Black Lips being renowned for their phenomenal live shows and many festival goers being familiar with Stephen Malkmus from his days in cult band Pavement.
Additionally, Glasgow electronic stalwarts Soma, Slam and Optimo have been confirmed as curators for the Unknown Pleasures tent, where the legendary Dave Clarke will be performing a very rare electro set. Over the next few weeks Soma and Optimo will be booking more hot electronic talent as well as programming in performances from top club nights Vegas! and Club Noir. It’s safe to say the lineup will be second to none!
Deep in the heart of the forest, Red Bull will be throwing a party that forgets it’s 2008. Leave the shackles of the 20th century behind and lose yourself with a hearty slice of music, dancing, drinking and merry making, keep it quiet though, this is an experience that is for you to discover! But before you embark on your journey, remember the forest can be a dangerous place, so beware of highway men...stand and deliver!
Kopparberg will be providing music fans with the ‘One Big Tree’ chill-out experience under the amazing natural canopy of the ‘Kopparberg Tree’ which is situated in the Grand pavilion tent. With live DJs playing throughout the day and into the night, revelers can relax and enjoy an ice-cold Kopparberg in the ultimate fairytale atmosphere of this sumptuous area.
Expect more Hydro Connect announcements over the next few weeks...and remember, only tell your best friends!
Quite like the sound of Kopparberg's One Big Tree...
Aye, got this the other day as well. I'm sad to say it's pretty much the final nail in the coffin of my plans to go to Connect again this year, I always said it isn't all about the music however it's certainly a major influence and I just can't get excited about any of those additions...fucking Gomez... whit?
Got to say, the Lineup is looking pretty decent now:
SPARKS!
Ha ha...and a couple of weeks later I bought a ticket anyway. Glad I did actually, when you look past the shite there are enough decent acts there to keep me entertained for the weekend, and now FINALLY some decent additions... Ladytron, Glasvegas and The Faint! nice![]()
Starting to feel a little like I'm talking to myself in this thread so to provoke a response anyone want to sling some suggestions of bands (and tracks to check out) that I may have not heard anything by before? I've heard the likes of Gutter Twins, Black Lips & Joan As Police Woman are meant to be pretty good...?
Main attractions for me so far:
- Grinderman
- Manics
- Conor Oberst
- Mercury Rev
- The Faint
- Glasvegas
- Ladytron
The only act I'd have interest in seeing is Quiet Village, I've seen the Gossip about 23405823 times already. And I'm no paying all that money to see one artist, in the rain (probably).
Gutter Twins are fucking amazing but you're better off starting with the parent band Twilight Singers. It's Greg Dulli, of Afghan Whigs fame.
Black Lips are great fun. Joan as Police Woman is awesome if you like really fucking depressing ballads (which I do).
The best band you haven't listed are fucking Sparks.
I only just realised this is split over three days. There aren't enough bands for two. I really really really wish Gutter Twins and Grinderman were on the same day. Damn it.
A large amount of shite on that line-up there.
Shite spread over 3 days.
Lovely.
Does anyone else fuckin' hate Glasvegas?
