Swervedriver - King Tut's 18th September

Another Indie band from the early 90s reunites.

They've released 4 albums but I've only heard the first one 'Raise' which is excellent.

The guitar work is brilliant, so it's cool the gig is on Jimi's anniversary

£12.50

Second show I've found out about today that I'd actually bother attending.

I might actually make it to more than a handful of gigs this year.

What was the first show?

BTW have you heard any of Swervedriver's albums other than Raise? I've heard they change their sound with every album.

I'd love to hear that Curve were reuniting.

Re: Swerverdriver - King Tut's 18th September

I remember being completely deafened by Swervedriver in Oscars in Dundee..

Stuck at the side of the tiny wee stage, bass cab in one ear, monitor in the other, nae earplugs..

Hurt for a fucking week.. fantastic.

Jesus Loves The Swervies!

first two are sand blasted stooges rock, after that they dipped their toes into Britpop and became cack

Re: Swervedriver - King Tut's 18th September

I have them all now. I kind of agree with you, although I prefer to think of them as original and nothing like the Stooges. Raise is one of the best albums of the 90s, Mezcal head is pretty good too, the song Duress is brilliant and the intro to Last Train to Satansville sounds so much like Buckley's Last Goodbye. I don't know what to make of Ejector Seat Reservation, it's their best named album but none of the energy of the first two plus what were they doing messing with The Birds lol. I like 99th Dream! Ha it's very Britpop as you say (they're much better than Oasis!) but it's really cool especially up full blast, they still have their signature guitar sound which I love.

Bit cheeky of them to make a Greatest Hits double album but it's on sale for £5 inc P&P here

Only a week to go! Very excited, going to be the gig of the year for sure
