Is it not the Merchant City Festival as well?
The Merchant City restaurant Cafe Gandolfi is celebrating its 30th year this coming weekend, with a special 'pop-up champagne' bar at Hutchesons Hall (city centre, off George's Square, opposite The Committee Rooms).
You can read more about it at www.snipurl.com/gandolfi
Myself and the band have been invited to play, and will do so on Saturday 26th from 8pm. It's a free entry affair, and there will be food and champagne.
Our regular mandolin player Dave can't make the show, so my brother Dan is coming up to stand in for him. This is going to be awesome, almost a DNR reunion.
It sounds like it will be a fantastic evening:
Tony Poprock is also Dj'ing on the Saturday night, and I hear it's also his birthday.Originally Posted by an organiser

Erm, I don't know, could be?
They do the best haggis, neeps'n'tatties on Earth.
Willies.
Yep, Merchant City Festival all weekend.
The Gandolfi party runs from Thursday to Sunday, one pm to one am each day.
It’ll be laid back but fun. The hope is to pull off the same vibe that makes Café Gandolfi a second home for most of us in the Merchant City.
Friday night’s shaping up to be a good one too, we’ve got Manda Rin DJing.
(Les, the food at this will knock your socks off too. Carol and the team have some lovely stuff planned.)
Don’t expect the drinks etc to be cheap though—Gandolfi’s all about good quality at a fair price, but with Perrier-Jouet running the bar and lobster on the menu this is going to be a bit pricier than your average night out. Well worth it though, you get what you pay for.
The interval between birth and death is fractal. Any given moment is infinitely deep and rich, and therefore one lifetime is quite enough for me.
oo may pop along with my mate, he's looking for new drinking venues in glasgow (since he HATES the solid and i seldomn go anywhere else) and this may fit the bill!
when i am in charge everyone who is LOVELY will get a BIG HAT, that will be THE LAW.

There’ll be a bit of burlesque on the Thursday and Sunday as well. Probably between four and eight. Timings for this bash are all pretty vague, things will happen when they’re ready.

Short notice, but the fabulous Lou Hickey is doing a cheeky wee set at seven tonight.

Last night was a cracker. Bit less jam-packed than Thursday, bit more of a relaxed vibe. Lou was an absolute star, Manda Rin’s set was outstanding, and the poker training girls were really, really good fun.

i'm dead excited for tonight!
Got a completely different set list tonight, perhaps a bit more country and old tyme.
Sounds braw.
I’m still trying to decide what music to pack for after you’ve played. I had been planning lots of mellow stuff, but Manda got away with some pretty upbeat new wave tunes last night …

Mhari-lou should stick the start of her name back on and go country.
