Band Nights at the Union - Page 3

A quick plug here, seeing as it's relative to the topic...

Keitel are playing the Union on Friday 26 March. As for other bands that night, I have no idea who has been confirmed. If anyone's interested, our website will be updated as soon as we know.

My old band played our first gigs at the Cavern/Bubble Lounge and Vertigo at the Union a few years ago and they were always a good laugh. We were part of a couple of metal nights that they used to have (still have?) and we got to play with bands like Seth and Modo which was cool. Nice 'n' cheap for booze too.

Since its my job, the dates are always fine on the bottles, although it isnt used much, most drinks have about a year before the best before date, feel free to check though. the draught stuff is all fine as well, except the stella which just plain doesnt work.

I've never heard of such a thing! The Union is one of the most professional organisations I've ever experienced, and they're certainly not in the business of fucking people over, ruining their own nights, or generally being useless...

Since it's yer job, any chance of making the vodkas a bit less stingy? They = miniscule, + there's not enough room in those glasses for lemonade, tastes too much like vodka :/

so theres too much vodka and they arent too stingy?

the measures are 25ml standard, same as virtually every pub/club in scotland.

the ammount of lemonade is a dash, its not meant to be a pint of lemonade with a vodka in it, if people cant taste the vodka at least a bit they tend to complain theres no vodka in it (or not enough) so we generally give them 'enough', but if you want more just ask, it dont hurt

alternatively, buy something you like the taste of

aye but we all just buy vodka because its cheap, cheerful, and the taste is easily hiddden if you get a good amound of lemonade

All for bigger measures here, just as long as there's enough juice too.

Don't think you could fit 35ml in the glasses you get at strathy, though.

You could, but once they add the ice*, there's only room for a couple of drops of coke or whatever.

* - Again, PLEASE, for the sake of your health, get your drinks without ice. Trust me on this, I know how clean those machines are. Or aren't, as the case may be**

I always ask for no ice with all my drinks.

Having ice in your drinks does not make you brave, it means you're stupid.

just because you never cleaned the glass machine doesnt mean noone else did

Well at least when I cleaned things they actually got clean.

And I think I can probably count on one (three fingered) hand how often the ice machine was cleaned in the year I was there. And it was manky by the next week anyway.
