| Re: Mick's Aussie Adventures Well kids thanks for the wee send off (seeing I wont get to spend Christmas or Hogmany with you bastards) I'm heading to the airport in about 10 minutes and I'm sitting listening to Bye, Bye Baby by The Bay City Rollers which I believe is somewhat apt. See you all in January.

| Re: Mick's Aussie Adventures OK I have arrived. I got back to my uncles at about 0300 their time and stayed up until about 0600 then slept right through to around 1400 hoursish I think. It's currently 2030 hours and I'm pretty tired but I'm gonna stay up for a bit so I can get a decent sleep today and get the whole jet-laggy-ness of the journey over with. 23 hours flight time in total. Plus the 3 hours at Dubai and 2 in Singapore.
Flight itself was a nightmare. Economy class shitty wee seats with no space to move your feet and no way to get comfy meant I had to try and keep myself occupied for this mammoth journey. I did get to finish The Odyssey by Homer and joined the mile high club (Solo version) but have very little to tell you apart from long-haul flights are the tool of the devil. Not home for 6 weeks but already dreadin the return leg.
Highlights I suppose were stopping in Dubai where I saw a nice UAE flag top that Tommy would like and Singapore's smoking area. The smoking are in Singapore airport is brilliant. You are shattered when you get off the plane and the airport is very humid so, lot's of people fancy a fag when they get off the plane and others just want a wee breath of fresh air and there is this beatiful looking Garden with huge ferns, a big swimming pool, deck chairs and a tiki-hut style bar. The only problem is it's the most humid place in the world but this does make the beer you buy the best beer ever.
Australia has a strange smell. I forgot it had it from my previous trip but as soon as I left the airport I remembered it. It smells like there's a field full of cow shit about 5 miles downwind from you on a sunny day constantly. Not in a "fuck me this country smells" sort of way but a strange odour none the less.
I'll post a few pics of the room I'm in and such soon (don't seem to be working just now) but at the moment I'll leave you with this: the patio RIGHT outside my room door has a pool table, a hammock, a fridge and, currently, 3 cases of beer, 2 cases of cider and about 20 bottles of juice. This would be heaven to a lesser man. It really would.
Also if anyone hasn't subscribed to this post yet but would probably fancy knowing how it goes give them a wee shout so they know. This post is an exception as it is mostly, if not all, pointless drivel as I try to basically say: I got there O.K.
