Hi
Well a would like to say hello to all you alternativenation people. We are the hoydens. Here is a bit about us.
The Hoydens were formed around 4 years ago by Jamie. Initially it was only Jamie and Johnny. For over a year, they both played in a lot of school talent shows and local pubs. Sharyn joined the band later that year and things grew from strength to strength.
Gigs began to flow in and the line up was ALMOST complete. Jamie the bass player joined the band for a short period of time but left due to other commitments. The band continued on as a 3 piece for several months until the summer of 2005, when the band was offered the chance to headline a local music festival. It was decided that a bass player was needed ASAP! The week before the gig, Jamie and Johnny found sandy at a bus stop and asked him if he would mind filling in the position for the gig. Sandy gladly accepted the chance and that’s where the story of The Hoydens began. After the gig, the rest of the band agreed that Sandy should be the permanent bass player. Since that gig the band has grown and became great friends. Venues from all over Ayrshire have booked the band to play which was extremely exciting for the band.
In January 2006 The Hoydens recorded there first two songs “Get In Get Out” and “Minute of your Time” (you can have a listen and download them at (
www.myspace.com/thehoydenstheband) and the feedback from people was very encouraging. The Hoydens returned to the studio in early June and recorded a further two song “Publish” and “Pretty Little Thing” which can be heard on our demo. The Fan base started to grow and soon Glasgow Beaconed playing there first gig in the 13th Note. Shortly after this gig the band returned to the studio for the third time this year and recorded the final two tracks for the self titled EP “Sober” and “Turn Me Off and On”. Momentum started to gain once the EP started to circulate creating many opportunities for the band. Several articles were also run in the local press recently about the band which gave the chance to attract new fans in the local area. Venues all round Glasgow have started to pouring in giving the band an impressive list Nice & Sleazy, Cathouse, The Garage, The Capitol and Fury Murry’s.
The New Year will bring an even bigger opportunity for the band to grow and flourish in the Glasgow music scene.
