Never seen him before. Definitely want to go along for this, but all the weekend tickets are sold out.

You can go several times and not see the same show twice. He has 6 20 minute long routines and at the start of the show a member of the audience will pick 3 of 6 eggs to randomly determine what routines he does that night.

Watched a couple of his live shows today. He's not actually funny, is he? I really like him. He seems like a smart, intelligent, rational and charming man, but he's not really humorous... shame.

I think he's hilarious. What specific criticisms do you have?

Well just that. He's not funny. He tells stories, great ol' yarns but the punchlines aren't there. A couple that spring to mind -- The one about 'you wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee' with the punchline being (after about 13 minutes set up) some crap about Ang Lee going to the dentist. I'm not certain I even 'got' that joke.

Another one was where he was contemplating allowing Cherrie Blair come see him backstage at one of his performances of Jerry Springer-The Opera. His morals say that he shouldn't allow he, or that he should say something to her about Tony's bullshit war (what with him being quite left-ist). The problem is though that Cherrie's bringing her friend who is a head-boss in S.C.O.P.E. So he can't decide if he should meet them both and be civil to the S.C.O.P.E person and have a pop at Cherrie, or just ignore them both. His punchline is something about asking the S.C.O.P.E person if there's any clothes for deformed babies that Cherrie's husband bombed. I know, convuletd and never-ending. Not funny!

Hard to explain. Watch '90s Comedian' and 'Stewart Lee Standup' (filmed in the Stand actually), those are where the jokes are from. Rubbish.

Again, I totally am in tune with him, as far as policies go (particularly on religion and political correctness) and I do empathise with him for this problems with the Jerry Springer stuff in 2007, but he doesn't crack me up.

See, I don't see him as a punchline comedian. For example, I don't think the dentist thing in the Ang Lee bit is meant to be a punchline at all. Comedy doesn't have to rest on punchlines. He's a really funny teller of tales.

Aye it's a good thing he's not. Like I said, he's affable and likeable but not exactly LOL to me. I'm running out of ways to say the same thing (sums up my Forum legacy).

I'll watch his telly show when it's on.

The whole bit was about homophonic word combinations, Ang Lee's dentist appointment was at 2.30. Two thirty. Tooth hurty.

Though that was the least funny part of the bit. I don't think it was meant to be a "punchline", though.

I fucking **LOVE** Stewart Lee (and Richard Herring) and I have done for years (I AM the real Rodd Hull! Green flavored jelly etc) but I have still never seen either of them live.... might do it this year, but I might get all gushy and throw my panties at him

I think you'd find him incredibly funny if you actually saw him live as opposed to on tv or youtube, even worth a trip into the shithole that is Edinburgh.

I really like him but yeah he is not a LOL comedian but I raised eyebrow with a smile kinda comedian. I hope I can see myself on the dvd.

I quite fancy a jaunt through to Edinburgh next week as I'm off work all week, but I'm undecided whether to see Stewart Lee or Jim Jeffries.
