| Umbrella Company
Can anyone recommend an umbrella company? I am going to be doing a bit of contract work in addition to my permanent position so looking for an umbrella company to deal with all the nonsense that comes along with contracting. |

I’d say that your best bet is to ask around your professional peers rather than socially … if you can, you’ll be better off going with someone who already knows and deals with your specific industry.

The specific industry is pretty irrelevant. The reason I'm asking here is because the contractors that I do know have their own companies set up which they use but since I am only going to be doing this for a short period I don't want the hassle of that. | |

Is there any reason why you need to ‘be’ a company, rather than just a sole trader? You don’t really need anything official setting up, so long as you keep records of incoming and outgoing cash and submit a self-assessment tax form at year end.
