| lying on your cv ive had a stressful yr and cause i got a shitty immune system thats affected by stress ive had a few occasions off, and managers now looking for medical consent or disaplinary action. (seems 3 members of your family being hospitalised and 2 diagnosed with cancer doesnt get a lot of sypmathy or understanding from an empolyment like mine)
question is because i have a pretty bad attendance record in my current job, when you fill in a job application has anyone else lied about how many sick days youve had? if so do you think you can get away with it? i just imagine if u put that on an application they wouldnt take it any further regardless of anything else on cv

| Re: lying on your cv If they call up to check, and they find out you've lied..You're fucked.
If you're honest, then at an interview you'd get the chance to explain your absences.

| Re: lying on your cv Be honest.
My boss sits next to me and he got a cv from a graduate with barely 3 months experience - something he'd usually run a mile from - but there was a covering letter explaining that the candidate had graduated and taken a job with a contractor but subsequently found he hated it more than anything and wanted to get into consulting. His cv didn't get thrown in the bin, he might even have got an interview.

No-one's ever checked. | When we get asked for a reference we do not complete any forms we're given that ask that sort of thing. Our letter that we send out just confirms they worked for us and for how long and that we don't know of any legal reasons why they shouldnt be able to take up thier new job.
We almost never check things like that on CV's sent to us. We spend more of our time verifying that the company/person actually exists. In saying that though if you lie about almost anything else on the forms we usually do find out and depending on the job you can actually end up in jail for doing so |

The criminal record thing really only comes into play if its a sensitive job. If its a job working with kids in sub saharan africa and your on the sex offenders list we will find out even if you try and hide it but if you happened to kill your wife 20 years ago, declare it, and the job isnt a highly stressful job then you might still get that interview. I've seen it happen. |
