| Is it worth the risk?? I HATE MY JOB.
I worked for the same company in Dundee and everyone was so nice, we all got along great but here in Glasgow - I hate it. I'm on the verge of killing someone.
So I've started really looking for a new job and I've found loads that I'm going to sit and apply for tonight.
I really want to hand my notice in at the end of the month and that means I'll work here to the end of February but is it worth taking the risk cause I don't wanna not work, I need the cash! I don't have rent to pay or that so its not overly bad but I seriously don't know how much more of this I can take!!
So what are the chances of me having ANY job by the end of February?!?! |

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? Well, if you were to hand in your notice it would certainly motivate you to find another one to start as soon as possible and save any apathetic job search where you think, "Oh, I'll do it tomorrow."
On the other hand, if you're anything like myself and have bills etc to pay on a regular basis then I'd probably suggest sticking at it - it's still money - and use your hate of your job to fuel the search for another. A month's notice isn't that long when you know it's your last month and can look forward to starting somewhere afresh. |

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? It always seems easier to get a job while in one. Still you've got to just weight it up, how bad you feel to how much you need the money.

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? I could make my money last to the end of March, even longer if I didn't waste so much
I just seriously don't know how much more I can take of this place, or the people. |

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? Just remember that you never know when you'll need money in a rush! A fridge breaks, you forget about a bill, you need new shoes or something. IF you're going to quit, don't leave yourself short for emergencies and the unforseen.
Why not sign up with some temp agencies right now, then you'd at least get some random office stuff in the interim period? |

Always need new shoes
Temp agenices sound like a good idea, biggest problem is arranging interviews and stuff around this bloody job.
Never hated a job in my life but this is beyond belief. Even my mum is now worried cause at times I'm sooooooo miserable and I'm not a miserable person, I'm usually ridicolously happy. But I'm not willing to live off my mum so thats not even an option for me. I don't pay rent cause my granded died and I got his house and that's all paid for so I guess that's good and not paying rent is making me think this a good plan.....
I really have no idea what to do |

Be warned though, I work for them. |

Assuming, of course, you have any holidays left. |

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? Depends what kind of work you have experience in and how long you've worked in that sector. If it's admin or call centre work I wouldn't expect you would find it that difficult to find another job.
How long is your notice period and do you have any holidays to take? And before you chuck it in, are you sure this is something that can't be resolved? Do you think if you had a word with your supervisor about the situation that is making you unhappy that it might be able to be resolved? It would seem a better option than quitting immediately if you think it's something that could be resolved, and if not, it looks better to a new employer that you tried to resolve the issue rather than just quitting immediately.
Oh, and Blue Arrow are a good agency to work for. I used to temp for them and worked in their office for a while, and they were the best agency I've worked for.

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? The worst thing is I love what I do and the sector I work in but I just can't stand the people anymore. They are bitchy, two faced, completelly unapprochable and being asked if you sleep around is just outrageous!
I just hate the idea of being stuck here. |

| Re: Is it worth the risk?? I work in the building surveying industry which i LOVE but I'll take anything to get me out of here, I' do some admin stuff here and had admin jobs vbefore and stuff. I'd rather be happy in a job and earn a bit less than be miserable, its not worth it. I've applied to go back to uni to get my building surveying degree in Sept but there is no way Im staying here that long. |
