Bank Nursing (Auxilliary)

Anyone do this? How much work is there really going, considering the amount of people on the bank already? I plan to fit it around uni/placements.

Re: Bank Nursing (Auxilliary)

The boy's mum is in the bank as an auxilliary, and she seems to do quite well with it, she gets a few shifts on her own ward and she'll be offered shifts in other hospitals too, so I think it'd be quite easy to pick and choose when you do shifts.

Re: Bank Nursing (Auxilliary)

There are lots of care agencies as well you can do bank shifts with.

My friend has an interview for Monklands this weekend. Basically, do a good job and they'll give you whatever shifts you can fit in.

I am just going to struggle on working every weekend until the placements start making me work them as well

Re: Bank Nursing (Auxilliary)

DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!!!!! They are so shit. I never get the shifts that i want. When i do get shifts they don't pay me when they are supposed to ( if at all). They constantly book shifts and then cancel them at the last minute. Half the time i turn up at the wards and get sent away because they've double booked.

All in all they are a nightmare.

Re: Bank Nursing (Auxilliary)

I was considering this but decided against it, the wages are better but the work (and pay) can sometimes be erratic like Katie says

Instead I now have a job at the BUPA care home round the corner from me, who will fit around my placements and holidays for me, promised me 12-18 hours a week. Thats a shift and a half. Bonus!

Contact your local care home instead. Always pays to check!
