It would also benefit the companies themselves so they don't have to deal with countless calls/e-mails asking how the application is doing.
In saying that, it honestly can't be that hard - given that most agencies will add your CV to a database in case you do meet their criteria for another job - for there to be a standard e-mail sent out to all applicants saying thanks but no thanks, but we'll keep you on file (unless you're a complete numpty, obviously.) |

Glasgow council and Strathclyde police can take an age to get back to you even if they do want you for an interview! It's bloody annoying if you don't hear though

Is Rufus still looking for that matter? Didn't get my references sorted in time to apply last week. |

Unless you're a rich bastard who doesn't really need a job but just applies for fun.
Culture & Sport Glasgow really pissed me off this time - six weeks between closing date and response. Naturally, I didn't even get an interview, but those that did were responded to within the same time frame. Irritatingly, those that did get an interview don't seem to be the sharpest tacks in the box.
Ho hum. If they do turn out to be useless then maybe they'll get binned and I can apply again. |

Universal staff services above house of frasers has lots of council and contracts and Kelly services (spawn of Satan) do work for them too. Quite often the temps get first dibs on the perm jobs and even if you're in a different sector you can peruse the internal jobs (and at least if you do this you're earning and not resting on you laurels)
