I said 'Well, I really appreciate you saying these nice things about my guitar playing because you were a big influence on me.'

He said 'I don't give a shit about that, you're fucking great, you're blah blah blah', but he was downright nasty.

He said 'I hope you know that this is by no means a band you're playing with. Music is about power and domination and you should just go over there and take the whole band over. You should go over to the other side of the stage and put the guitar player out of his misery.'

I'm sitting at the table with him, and for a second somebody passed and I looked away and he said 'God damn it, you look me in the eye when I'm talking to you or so help me god I'll smash you in the face.'

I started laughing.

'Don't laugh for a second. I'm deadly serious. You look away from me again, I'll smash you in the face.'

This is while he's telling me how great I am. I did keep my eyes on him from then on.
