One can of WD40 later, and the brakes don't squeek quite as much. Also, they still stop the car when required, which is a plus.

Probably need to replace the brake discs/pads real soon though.

Didn't do it directly on the brakes, just around the wheels, unless that's the same thing.

Did take it on a test run to make sure they still worked mind. They seem to be alright, I can still brake quicker than I'd like if need be.

I may take your brick advice though.
