I say you want to check out places like 13th Note and Sleazys along with the Barfly also a few promoters that might eb worth approaching
http://www.phpevents.co.uk/sin.html I'm pretty sure they do non PTP as well as PTP depending on venue size.
Usually the problem is if your a band from anohter city is you won't bring a crowd which might put promoters off. So you could be best looking for a gig exchange with a couple of local bands. Set up a wee gig in Edinburgh get them to set up one in Glasgow and then you both get a bit of exposure in the others city.
