| Re: Sin City Movie I am SO excited by this. And apparently it is as good as the trailers make it look.
I can't wait. Star Wars? Pah.
Fantastic 4? (OK so that looks pretty good)
Batman Begins? (bum that looks great too).
This for me is THE summer blockbuster this year given the great reviews I have heard from friends in the States!

Mickey Rourke looks great. It all looks great.
Quiz: Which non-Latina actress stars in two of the films mentioned in Foxglove's post, and whose role in one prompted former X-Men art legend and now legendary asshole John Byrne to state 'personal prejudice, but when I see a Latina girl with dyed blonde hair, I think hooker'?
P.S. Dear Kevin, are you buying those comics that say 'Seven Soldiers' at the top like I said you should?

| Re: Sin City Movie Aye it's good man.
What of the new Grant Morrisons? There's quite a lot of titles he's doing just now, eh? Any of them any good?
Me, i'm currently only buying Daredevil and Amazing Spidey, both of which have kind of got a little slack lately.

| Re: Sin City Movie Yeah, fuck Amazing. That Gwen shit sounds well ropey. Also, nothing has happened in Daredevil for approx. 1 year. Latest was pretty good, and Maleev's stuff just gets better, but still.
You should get the last five issues of Detective (Lapham/Bachs), Fraser Blade. Because:
a) you love Batman.
b) you love him solving crimes, and this is a very difficult & horrible (set of) crime(s.)
c) it is super-hard-boiled and not remotely camp.
Funnily, the Seven Soldiers stuff I'm liking best is the stuff I expect to like least. Dunno if it's your bag. Y'might like the Islamic Kirby of Vimanarama, though.

| Re: Sin City Movie I watched this film and it fucking RULED!
The last time i read the original graphic novel was years ago (Marv, Goldie, Kevin) but i still could see that this part of the film is almost frame by frame exactly the same as the comic.
The film practicaly is the comic, i guess this is maybe why Robert Rod-somethingmexicansoundingthatican'tspell gave Frank Miller a dirctorial credit.
The first one is the only one i have read and back in the day, it was one of the best comics i had read, best comic adaptation i most def agree.
Fucking loved it.
to Duncan - I havn't read Seven soilder but i think i will check that shit out, to busy wasting all my money on video game shit most of the time. |

| Re: Sin City Movie Er, yeah. That'd be why.
Completed MGS3, Kev. Great stuff. A tense few days. Do you know of any bonus stuff in the game?
P.S. Fraser, do you want my New X-Men collection for about £30-40? The hardcovers are on Amazon for about £42 or so total, so I really want to get them.

| Re: Sin City Movie About MGS3 - there is actually lots of really odd quirks to the game that have only really became obvious to me during my second play through, they might be spoilerish but here are a few of the weird things that can be easily missed out in one play through.
The End - first time, I took me 1 hour and 47 mins to kill him (I check the save game times). Second time I saved it during the encounter played it again a few days later and he had died of old age! Weird shit.
In Prison - if you save while in the prison, on reloading you get a dream sequence mini game that is super violent and cool. It a ninja-slice-the-fuck-out-of-everything game.
The Sorrow - if you get killed by the ghosts you get nothing, if you make it to the end of the river and get killed by the sorrow you get a cloaking device.
The thing I like most about this game is how much you can fuck around with it. Most of the fun comes from using the cqc tools at your disposal and improvising with them, it's a MASSIVE improvement over the prequels. Its great fucking with the guards, you can be slow and stealthy or, If you do it right, you can use cqc techniques and murder the fuck out of everybody. For example you can grab a guard, attract the other guards, shoot them all super quick using the captive as a human shield then quickly slit his throat, its all more fluid and instinctive compare to MGS1 +2. To appreciate it properly, it has to be tried yourself. Running through the game like some people do is TOTALLY pointless. There are a lot of subtleties. Its true that the camera is too much over head and generally feels a bit dated.
I thought the Frank Miller was not actually in a regular directorial role because Robert Rodriguez lost his membership to the director’s guild because of Frank Millers credit.
They disagreed that his credit was worthy, something about him never of directed before. Maybe it was cuz Frank Miller isn't a member of the director’s guild. I just suspected that his credit was due to the film being almost frame by frame the same as the comic.
So suck my balls.
ps. I drank too much coffee. |

ps. I drank too much coffee. | Nah, Rodriguez got thrown out of the directors guild because you're not allowed to give directing credit to someone who isn't a member of the film directors guild unless they qualify as a bona fide partner. For instance, Larry Wachowski could give co-directing credits to Andy Wachowski etc
In all fairness, getting thrown out the film directors guild was very much in fashion at the time and he's back in now. **edit** - He was thrown out during pre-production on Sin City |
