the "pointedly snubbed" the debate also intrigues me... I need to find out the gossip on this one. | Seeing as the threads been bumped I'll go back to this briefly... Quote:
Debate on the subject of—
S2M-5406 Patrick Harvie: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History Month—That the Parliament notes that February is LGBT History Month and that events will be taking place around Scotland to celebrate the lives of Scottish LGBT people, past and present; congratulates the many organisations that have contributed to LGBT History Month, including voluntary organisations, religious groups, businesses and the Scottish Executive; regrets that LGBT history, from the horrors of the gulags and gas chambers to the achievements of LGBT people in all spheres of life, often remains unwritten and unspoken; believes that this represents a cultural loss to the whole of society; further believes that young LGBT people in particular have a right to learn about their cultural heritage in all its forms, and hopes therefore that many communities, including schools, will participate in LGBT History Month this year and in the future.
| Just to say that is in no means a debate. I mean whose going to disagree with that? Its pointless tokenistic politics.

Whether he actually is involved in the running of the Banff & Buchan constituency is another matter...

| Re: SNP Anti-gay? Why shouldn't we? Doesn't do any harm and helps promote a group of people who are still chastised by certain members of society.
Not that suddenly finding out Isaac Newton liked a bit of cock fun will actually change many attitudes but you never know...

Assuming theirs not a foot and mouth crisis I don't think theres much for him to actually do.

| Re: SNP Anti-gay? Well then what's the harm in having one month like that in this big empty calender? Making love to a gay man...
...is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman

But if people want to celebrate their faith, sexuality or whatever why not let them? Makes a hell of a lot more sense to let folks do so rather then stopping them. Its not as if its compulsory for eevery citizen during LGBT month to march up and down Buchannan Street waving a rainbow flag is it?
