Blech, artifical sweeteners, though I was only pointing out that sugar-free diluting isn't exactly healthy as its one of my usual distractions from eating massive fuck-off lumps of steak as snacks. Laziness and junk food seem to chase each other in a never-ending cycle for me.
I tried really hard to get into salads when I was vegetarian. No dice, my brain simply refuses to register it as a meal.
Its not a meal, its a salad. |

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. current weight - flabby
target weight - when my flabby bits are toned and don't wobble. Looking to build some serious muscle tone in my tummy and back to sort out my back problems and tone up the muscles in my legs and thighs, so I can't imagine I'd lose much weight as muscle is heavier than fat. Just change my body shape a wee bit
Due start date - tomorrow(post staff night out)
weight loss this week - flabby minus 0lbs
diet programme followed - no calorie counting! NO denying myself anything, just trying to eat more wholesome foods like wholemeal bread and pasta, drink more water and have the right kind of fats etc and try eat foods that are slower at releasing their energy. oh, and excercise |

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. I'm having difficulty differentiating (in the bit of my brain that makes me want to eat certain foods) between 'healthy' and 'low calorie/fat'. I'll happily much on loads of pumkin seeds and awesome homemade bread (we just broke out the bread maker and by god is it tasty!), but I know that there is no way I'm going to lose any weight eating them. But they are good for me... I love buying lunch in Grassroots, too - loads of really tasty fritatas and burritos and fatiras...nom. |

When I was calorie counting last year I lost 2 stone and still ate all the stuff I usually ate. I kept it healthy most of the time but still ate chocolate and sweet stuff. What brought me off the diet was when I was trying to restrict things even more and stopped eating sweet things entirely and ended up going off on a binge, meh. If you really don't wanna eat sweet stuff, have fruit instead, the sweet craving will be gone soon after. |

Sugar free jelly is good calories wise, but gets a bit rubbish after a while. Unless you make it with fizzy water, or diet lemonade.
Freezing grapes and bananas is quite tasty too. Frozen bananas blended up with a wee bit of buttermilk makes a really low fat/low calorie ice cream |

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. Bananas really aren't very low calorie at all when it comes to 'diet foods'. I can't remember the specific content, but it's about double any other fruit. I've never thought of making jelly with lemonade, but I really want to now...
I've found that making soup is a fantasticly quick, inexpensive and easy way to make filling and healthy meals. We have this huge book of soups we're working through - so far we've made sweet potato and cumin, asparagus, aubergine and coconut milk, and garlic and egg (trust me, it was much much better than it sounds). |

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. haha...calculated BMI for my target weight - turns out that it's just the entry level for "overweight". I've heard folks be harsh on the BMI scale, but seriously - if my desired weight is supposedly overweight on some arbitrary system..that just feels weird. "Yes, I would like to be overweight please"
Most of my weight loss/muscle build is for work since I started doing a few days of physical labour a week. When I started cutting back on fast foods/sodas I was about 240lbs. Right now I'm 175 and looking to go down to around 150ish this year. New roommate's a dietician/fitness instructor/nutritionist so she's kicking my ass with the "EAT HEALTHIER, ASSHOLE" shenanigans.
Current diet is "look idiot, you eat twice a day. Now, I don't care what you eat at first but you will eat 6 times a day if I have to force-feed you" - since moving to that about two weeks ago I've rediscovered the appetite I forgot I ever had, and I've dropped 6-8lbs (I had hit a plateau around 182-188 for the last 12months). My metabolism's up, and next week I'm moving to meal plans (roommate adores the South Beach diet stuff) with not-too-strict guidelines and mostly anaerobic exercise. |
