Get started on the peppermint or chamomile tea. Cut down on the milk, salt, starchy things and anything which gives you wind. Exercise.

Yeh, salt makes you retain water.

I just made (and ate!) my first batch of cabbage soup - it was really really tasty! I'm really full now, too.

hmm, my concentration is failing me today. I typed a big reply to this thread and went wandering off around the forum before posting it
Don't worry, you got away with it.

I am addicted to salt, and cheese, these are things I CANNOT live without, under any circumstances. So I give up, gonna have to learn to love my cider belly, or salt belly as the case may be.

I really admire your conviction doing the cabbage diet, but I really don't see how it could be good for you and the side affects will surely be horrible. Don't you just put all the weight back on after those crazy fad diets?

It's essentially loads and loads of fruit and veg for 7 days, with virtually no carbs and very little protien (and no fat!). I know it's not particularly good for you, but I'm only doing it for a week in preparation for my ball so I feel like I look nice in my photos. As I said before I know I'll put any weight I lose back on when I stop, but I'm going to start a proper healthy eating plan afterwards.

Salt is really bad for you - the body is not designed to handle high concentrations of salt because it doesn't occur commonly in nature (apart from ocean water, but that wasn't really an evolutionary pressure in the past). That's why a diet with too much salt leads to quite a few problems including high blood pressure and kidney problems. You can get used to food with low or no salt - your taste-buds will adapt and your body will thank you. Food with too much salt tastes horrible to me cos I'm just no used to it.

Hmmm, my muffin top seems to be dissappearing. I was looking at my belly in a mirror (that actualy sounds bonkers) and thought that my stomach was more promanant then instantly thought "shit, pee on a stick time" but the jiggly bits around my stomach are not jiggling so much right now and my hips look narrower. Hmmmmm.

Still away with the fucking fairies tho, I'll need to get fruit in for the sake of having sugar in my diet. :/

Fair enough, it sounds like you know what you're doing. I'm not one to talk, I tried the kellogs diet, I just can't eat too much of any one thing, and I got really sick of cereal.

I don't love salt as such, I just love how salt brings out the flavour, tomatoes for example, taste awesome with a wee bit of salt. I honestly crave it all the time, always have for as long as I can remember. I personally think it's healthy to eat what I crave because it's my body's way of telling me what I need.

I don't just crave salt btw, I crave healthy things too lol

Yeah, it's hard to get used to its absence when you're used to adding a little pinch of salt when cooking. When we were cutting down our salt intakes, we got that Maldon stuff - it's got plenty of flavour in itself and brings out everything in the dish, and because it's a bit more intense than regular salt you use a good deal less.

Ill need to weigh myself and check what i am, trying to loose my belly a bit more, its going down though. Cutting out beer would help, i think ive got more chance of becoming the pope as ive cut RIGHT down on any boozing in general which has helped hugely. As for the salt thing, i rarely salt my food as i make it the exact same for me and Rachel and im really concious about how much salt she has

I'm a few pounds lighter than I was yesterday - I think it's all fluid, though.

Vonnie - I have definitely not had the same problem with the Cabbage Soup as you and Bob...

Right - its a friday, rather than a chippie, i have mixed leaf salad with pine nut and parmesan pasta with smoked salmon - num num!

And a smoothie from Juicelling! Although that'll be really high in sugars. Its good that im in a job where i seem to gopher about between floors and need to do lots of walking!

Today I discovered the joys of sugar free Werther's Original and Haribo Lite. Sainsbury's also do sugar free mallows which are great if you need something sweet.

I've piled on a few of the pounds i'd managed to lose so started the special k diet today. So far had 1 bowl cereal and some chicken stew ( which had a ridiculous amount of veg in it). Nightshift tonight so only time will tell if i can resist eating all the patients scran.
