Everyone is not meant to be a size 8 or 10, and the idea that they are is just plain stupid, for lack of a better word.

Size 12 women.
I can see what Christie's getting at - a standard size twelve may look a bit heavier on a shorter frame and people generally don't want to look heavier than they are, but really, when you average out at size 10 at our heights you needn't be worrying at all. You'll only look overweight (and that's really what this all boils down to, 'looking fat' as opposed to actually being overweight) if you wear clothes too tight for you so your flesh is squeezed about into overspills and lumps - I've seen a lot of girls on the street doing this who look heavier than I'd estimate they actually are due to this effect. |

The woman in blue was modelling for John Lewis. They're changing their mannequin sizes to 12, and had to get that model in from abroad because they didn't have any UK-residing size 12 models in the agencies they searched within. |

Also, which one of those two would look best in a bikini? |

Anyone that thinks that girl's body is desirable needs their head looking at.

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. I've worked out that the Swedish woman must be 5'10" to have a BMI of 16.1. And Jen Hunter would look better because she doesn't have sticking-out ribs and the legs of a 9 year old... and, well, she actually has a shape that a bikini would show off well, whereas Marianne is pretty much straight up-and-down. When was 'prepubescent child-giant' more attractive than 'mature woman'? Berglund would be more suited to looser, flowing garments, not things that cling.

She is that emaciated.

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. Whilst I fully understand the concern over Christie's views, (and I admit I was a little taken aback too), I dont think comments like Quote:

I can't possibly describe how fucking idiotic this is. Crystal is different - she doesn't have to diet to we the weight she is. If you do, then I really think there's something wrong. From what I've seen of you you look pretty skinny at your current weight - if you lost another 3 stone you would be ill. | Quote:

I'm not having a go, I think the rest of the posts are fairly spot on, I'm just of the opinion that there may have been a less aggressive (for want of a better description) way to get your point across.

| Re: The all-new, all-singing, all-dancing two stone for whenever thread. Ah, the old "I'll feel unattractive if I fail to conform to hollywood / the media / Vogue's[1] idea of what constitutes the correct size these days" argument.
Vicki's spot on, by all means try and lose some weight, but to deliberately strive for a weight so far below what is healthy is borderline retarded. Also, quick hint for y'all: See if you're that thin and underweight? You may feel it on the inside, but you're not in the least bit attractive.
Anyway. I'm 18 stone or so, and would like to drop to somewhere between 15 and 16. I aim to do this by hitting the gym 2 or 3 times a week, cutting out takeaway and pizza from my diet, and having slightly healthier breakfasts.
[1]Is Vogue the bible of these sort of things? I must confess to a certain lack of expertise on the subject of fashiony-type-magazines. |
