I want the full she-bang when I get hitched.
I just don't see the "fuck marriage, it costs too much" being a reason for not doing it, that is all.

Same, big wedding with all my family and friends there and an awesome honeymoon. I only intend to ever do it once.

Good for you, my mum and step dads wedding cost about a grand (although that was in 1993) I know it doesn't have to cost alot. But the average spend is what, £18,000? And my point is why bother at all, whether it costs £100 or £100,000? It's (in my opinion) totally pointless when you can get more or less the same legal benefits if you cohabitate for long enough.

Actually, enlighten me, marrying types...why do you want to get married? Genuinely curious here, because in all of my adult life i have never even considered it an option.

I'm aware of that. And my avoidance tactics are faultering of late given the media's obsession with pregnant celebrities. Honestly, it's like involuntary bulimia. I cant imagine ever being able to allow myself to be pregnant, i'd end up spending 9 months hunched over the toilet, puking my guts up, having castrated the bastard that did it.

A huge factor for us was that if anything were to happen to Bob, I wouldn't have been entitled to his pension under the terms of it. That's despite having his children, sharing a mortgage and home with him and everything else that comes with a committed relationship. It wasn't the only reason; I also wanted to have the same name as our children and I really wanted the school/nursery etc to get my name right when they talk to me. Most of all, I wanted recognition of our partnership. None of these are the sole reason we got married but it all added up.
