Endsleigh always used to be the default insurers for students’ home contents insurance. Dunno if it’s still the case, but they used to be the only specialists and thus a million miles cheaper than anyone else.
Looking around for a few quotes now as I've never had to insure anything before!

Is it a good idea just to insure the contents of your bedroom? ( I keep most of my valuables in there anyway) Trying to keep the payments as little as possible being a poor student etc.
How much stuff do you include in yours? Mainly electrical items? I don't want to start adding in shoes and jewellery but I have a few items that cost a fair bit and I'd be gutted if I lost them.
My downstairs neighbours flat got broken into from the back end of the building which is train tracks leading into central station. I'm now paranoid the wee buggers are going to get a ladder and break into my place too.

Yeah I just got a quote from them, it seems pretty reasonable.
Sharing the flat with my boyfriend and he works full time. I don't fancy putting all his stuff on my policy and going halves, so he'll have to insure all of his stuff separately.
I'm sure he'll be ecstatic about that!
