titus andronicus

Hello!

Just wanted to let you know that later this month I am putting on Titus Andronicus in RSAMD's Chandler Studio... This is the first production from the young company I set up and have been working under the title of since last June...

I've stuck a bit of blurb about the production and the company, along with booking details, on the end of this email...

Hope to see you there.

WILDERNESS OF TIGERS PRESENTS
TITUS ANDRONICUS
22 & 23 February 2007 @ 7pm
RSAMD Chandler Studio
Tickets £6 (£5 student concession)

Box office line: 07895745677
Box office email: wildernessoftigers@googlemail.com

Later this month, new young company Wilderness of Tigers will present Shakespeare's first and bloodiest tragedy. Developed by the company since June 2006, Titus
Andronicus is becoming increasingly relevant to contemporary society.
Titus Andronicus is the story of the aftermath of a war and the
execution of a key member of the losing side, which leads to a
downward spiral of bloodier and bloodier violence. Therefore, as we
enter the new year, the play takes on even more weight as a powerful
piece of classical, and yet entirely relevant, theatre - a piece
which highlights the futility of violence as means of revenge.

Wilderness of Tigers is a company of students based at Glasgow
University. Established in June 2006, the company seeks to develop a
style of theatre that engages with the lives of young people today,
drawing influence from such varied sources as the work of Theatre
Babel through to Forced Entertainment, via Buffy the Vampire Slayer
and Mario Kart. Prior to the creation of Wilderness of Tigers,
Artistic Director Alasdair Hunter has had an extensive background
with companies such as macrobert and Scottish Youth Theatre, as well
as various other UK theatre companies.

Tickets are available for reservation via email or telephone, and
confirmation will be issued within 24 hours of reservation.

For further information please contact Artistic Director Alasdair
Hunter at throwoutyourarms@googlemail.com, or via the box office line.

Re: titus andronicus

Wouldn't mind seeing it. Titus is probably my favourite Shakespeare play, only read it though, never seen it performed. Well, saw the movie with Anthony Hopkins which was pretty good, but would love to see it on stage.
