J. R. R Tolkien - The Children Of Hurin

for those that arent aware, Mr Tolkien wrote a series of manuscripts which were later turned into the Silmarillion, a series of short stories documenting the history of middleearth and whatnot.

The story of Hurin and his son Turin was among my favourites - so much so, (as geek as this sounds) Turin was my net handle for a long while.

Story is quite tragic, and im really glad its been given an edit, where there is a broader story, i just hope its been done properly.

ill be buying this today.

The version in Silmarillion was expanded lots in the manuscript stuff in ermm Book Of Lost Tales I think? The Lays Of Beleriand.

Definitely one of his stories worth a proper edit, release & read. (Even if it is mostly a retelling of myths to be set in Middle Earth and not very original storylined!)

Re: J. R. R Tolkien - The Children Of Hurin

ive started on this just now, really quite interesting, Christopher has put a lot of thought into it, and his foreward is quite in depth about his aims and the aims of his father.

its my belief that this is the first of three to come, the next being either the tale of the fall of gondolin or of beren one hand and luthien tinuviel.

he mentions in the foreward that these where his fathers three main stories in the history of beleriand and middleearth - and were written many moons before the lord of the rings and hobbit.
