King Dork by Frank Portman(Dr Frank of The Mr T Experience). It's a modern day Catcher in the Rye type novel. most people would find something in it to relate to, but it especially has links for people who started bands that were non-starters i high school. Its clever, and funny, and although not complex, its is interesting and witty enough that i read it in one sitting, because i couldn't put it down..

Ha ha ha, I'd forgotten about this thread.

It's a shame Mark doesn't post much these days.

Oh, and a final point just because I'm in the mood: check your wording in the final sentence. Maybe that's why it's relevant that I have an English Literature degree - I can sort the shite writing from the good.

Well you clearly can't if you don't adore Fear & Loathing.

I just finished reading, Broken Angels by Richard Montanari. It's a psychological crime thriller, a tad disturbing but a pretty good read if you like having to use your brain to keep up with the shifts in the plot and dialogue

Re: If you had to recommend ONE book...

Right I have ordered two John Irving books to have a read at based on the thread recommendations.

I'm sorry that there weren't more recommendations.

Time Travelers Wife - I found to be good to read but it didn't compel me. I like books that stay with me. But it was inoffensive and I liked it.

I've just finished;

American Gods - Neil Gaiman - Liked it, sorry it finished
Anansi Boys - Neil Gaiman - Liked it, have put in on my "to keep and re-read later pile"
Fragile Things - Neil Gaiman - Not right keen I'm afraid. I liked Smoke and Mirrors, but Fragile thigns didn't really grip me in anyway. Am using it as bus fodder at the moment
My Sisters Keeper - In my to keep pile. Junk food but touching junk food.

Any good horror recommendations?
