Grapes of Wrath

You know, I don't think I've read as good a book as this in a long long long time.

I loved Steinbeck and Of Mice and Men is one of my favourite books, so I decided to give Grapes of Wrath a shot, and I've not been able to put it down since I started it. Haven't seen the film yet, but as soon as I get to the end of the book I shall be hunting it down.

Re: Grapes of Wrath

I absolutely hated it. I've ranted about that in the past though, I simply don't have the pent-up rage to do it again.

Man if you liked those read East Of Eden, Steinbeck's epic. I got robbed goin round europe and all my books got bumped but i found East of Eden in a market somewhere and it's all you need, it's based around two families in the early 1900s West and is about everything, love, hate, family, America, the world, freedom of speech, Kane and Abel........just read it.

Re: Grapes of Wrath

I'm reading Canary Row at the moment and East of Eden is the one I'm gonna tackle next. Fair to say Steinbeck is starting to become my favourite author.

I saw the film of Grapes of Wrath (was given it for Christmas since I was telling folk how much I liked the book) and was kinda dissapointed in it. I had heard that the ending had been changed somewhat, but I didn't expect it to be a completely different story!

The book itself is, as I stated before, totally amazing. Made me question things around me and think differently about things I've seen and heard, something a good book should do.
