To keep you reading obviously, but you shouldn't need to do that, people should keep reading because the books great not because it beats about the bush for 190 pages. | 6. Jean Baudrillard - The Spirit of Terrorism or A Requiem for the Twin Towers
I read this last year too but had to re-read it for a presentation I was doing. It's pretty good.
7. AL Kennedy - Night Geometry and the Garscadden Trains
A couple of really decent short stories in it, some not so good ones, her descriptive style is really great in places. And shes from Glasgow eh.

1. Joseph Conrad - Heart of Darkness
2. D. H. Lawrence - The Rainbow
3. Evelyn Waugh - A Handful of Dust 4. James Joyce - A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
Some really amazing bits, but overall not my cup of tea at all. |

I was really taken by his ability with language, particulary in Tropic Of Capricorn. I don't think i've read anything quite like it, definetely worth more than a single glance. Quote:

Have either of you read Vile Bodies? I bought it the other day, i just haven't got round to reading it yet. | Yep, I liked it but I know other folk who've really hated it. Well worth a read anyway if you like satire. |

| Have you read Miller's Black Spring, its fucking great. Pretty much just total stream of conciousness stand alone chapters. Theres an amazing one where he paints a picture of a horse, and another one about him pissing in the street in Paris as he ruminates about the great men of literature.
