| Re: Reccomend me a book. Penguin classics are great, especially when you're skint (voice of experience, here). Oh! Just thought - try 'The Forest of Hours' by Kerstin Ekman. It's well-written, and has a ton of Scandinavian folklore woven into it. Also, try 'Beowulf', especially the Seamus Heaney translation, as it's definitely worth a read. |

| Re: Reccomend me a book. Like goth_pixie said Penguin Classics are a good place to start as they've a great deal of books to choose from.
These are some of my favourite books, they may not be to your tastes but all of the authors listed are exceptional writers in my opinion.
The Beautiful and The Damned, The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Tropic Of Cancer, The Tropic of Capricorn , The Colossus of Maroussi - Henry Miller
Blood Meridian, Child Of God, Suttree - Cormac McCarthy
V, The Crying Of Lot 49, Vineland - Thomas Pynchon
Collected Fictions, Labyrinths - Jorge Luis Borges
Of Love and Other Demons, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, The Autumn of the Patriarch, News of a Kidnapping - Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The Master and Margarita, Heart Of A Dog - Mikhail Bulgakov
Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, Jitterbug Perfume - Tom Robbins.

Even Cowgirls Get The Blues, Jitterbug Perfume - Tom Robbins. | Going through my books? Or am I just a cliche? Fire From Heaven - Mary Renault. Modern classic. Insane biography of Alexander the Great. I don't think it particularly needs to be fictional to be utterly insane. Residence On Earth - Pablo Neruda. Beautifully relaxing Chilean/commie poetry. Feels like smoking weed in book form. Or doing good deeds possibly, I don't know what thats like. Something that feels good to the soul. The Princess Bride - William Goldman. Half a bastardised version of a rather boring classic made exciting for children, half an autobiography of the writer making the movie 'The Princess Bride' Awesome, simply awesome.

Even the film version was good. And it has Peter 'Columbo' Falk in it.
