| Re: Science Fiction I highly recommend Alastair Reynolds, A.C. Clark, Issac Asimov and Philip K Dick.
The thing I've found with Dick is that you just have to push on and eventually you'll manage to work out what the hell is going on. Avoid 'Valis' though - it's not bad, just very very strange.
Some more specific recommendations:
Poul Anderson - Tau Zero
Larry Niven - Ringworld
Philip K. Dick - 'Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said' and 'The Penultimate Truth'
Richard Matheson - I Am Legend (Far, far better then the crap film)
Joe Haldeman - The Forever War
The Forever War, I Am Legend and Tau Zero are possibly the three best sci-fi books I have ever read. |

"Have You Lived Before This Life", it's about past lives of scientologists and consists of interviews with scientologists about their past lives.
Some of them sound pant-wettingly entertaining in a "YOU BELIEVE THIS SHIT?" kind of way.
Seemingly one guy thought he used to be a "space walrus" and another tells us a tale of past life when he was some sort of Martian ladies-man Fonzie-type character, cutting about Mars picking up all the Martian gals.
Sounds ace, I can't wait to get it.

That reminds me, I've got a Raelian e-book saved on my computer that I'd meant to have a look through. "Intelligent Design: A Message from the Designers", I believe it's called. Quote:
Years ago, everybody knew that the earth was flat. Everybody knew that the sun revolved around the earth.
Today, everybody knows that life on earth is the result of random evolution and/or a supernatural God. Or is it?
In "Message from the Designers" Rael presents us with a third option: that all life on earth was created by advanced scientists from another world. During a UFO encounter in 1973 he was dictated a series of messages, face to face, by one of these designers. The result is what lies within these pages - an astonishing revelation for mankind.
| Astonishing? Yes, quite. |
